Turn a real problem into a Python application proposal with clear users, value, MVP scope and success measures.

Learning outcome

An evaluated problem statement, user profile, value proposition and MVP scope.

Use fictional or sanitised examples. Never paste passwords, API keys, confidential documents or sensitive personal data into a public AI service.

Workflow

  1. Start with a problem, not a technology.
  2. Identify users and their current workflow.
  3. Compare several solutions before choosing one.
  4. Limit the MVP to the most important outcome.

Before making recommendations, ask no more than three genuinely necessary questions.
Then:
1. Rewrite the problem statement without proposing technology too early.
2. Identify primary users, their jobs and current pain points.
3. Propose three distinct Python application concepts.
4. Compare them by value, complexity, data, risk and time.
5. Select one concept and explain why.
6. Define MVP scope, out-of-scope items and success measures.
7. List assumptions that must be validated before development.

Do not invent facts. Separate my information, your assumptions and your recommendations.

Practical exercise

Interview at least one prospective user. Correct the problem statement and remove one feature that is not essential to the MVP.

Completion checklist

  • The problem can be explained without naming a solution.
  • Primary users are identified.
  • The MVP has clear boundaries.
  • Success measures can be checked.
